Ping An Ranks 83rd in Forbes’ Global 2000 Leading Companies

Hong Kong, 18 April 2013 – Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, Ltd. (hereafter “Ping An” or “the Group”, HKEx: 2318; SSE: 601318) has appeared in the latest “Global 2000 Leading Companies” list released by Forbes Magazine for the ninth time, rising to 83rd place from 100th. This ranking was based on its highly-placed company size, revenue, profit and market value. It is noteworthy that Ping An is the only Chinese corporation in the list ranked under the diversified insurance corporation category. In addition, Ping An Bank ranked at 283rd place this year as an independent listed company under the Group, rising 100 places over last year, which can be deemed a double honor.

Ping An announced its annual results on 14 March this year. Facing the complex and volatile external environment, Ping An continued to achieve balanced growth in its three pillars of business, namely insurance, banking and investment. Total assets and net assets recorded double-digit growth, with net profit attributable to shareholder of the parent company reaching RMB20,050 million, up 3.0% YoY. Overall profitability remained stable. In addition, Ping An’s banking business made steady progress towards implementing its business development strategy and the integration of the two banks, maintaining steady growth in various businesses. The banking business contributed RMB6,780 million to the Group, representing 34.3% of its revenue, up from 26.4% in 2011.

The “Global 2000 Leading Companies” list is published by Forbes Magazine annually and regarded as one of the world’s most authoritative and closely-watched corporate rankings. Those on the List are considered to be among the world's largest, most powerful and most influential enterprises. The selection criteria is based on company size, revenue, profit, assets and market value, with equal weightage given to all categories. This year’s rankings span 63 countries, with China being the third largest country by the number of companies on the list, which features well-known enterprises such as ICBC and CCB.
