Ping An Global Emergency Assistance Goes Into Action For Tsunami In India Ocean

According to figures provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as of the evening of December 28, 2004, Beijing time, more than 40 Mainland Chinese citizens have gone missing in Thailand since that country was hit by a tsunami caused by a massive earthquake in the Indian Ocean. Ping An immediately put its Global Emergency Assistance system into action and became the first Mainland Chinese insurance company to have provided emergency relief services to Mainland Chinese in need overseas. The 95511 Global Emergency Hotline in four countries, including Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and India, have been activated while the number of representatives taking those calls round-the-clock was increased.
At present, Ping An has dedicated emergency assistance institutions in Singapore, Bangkok, Jakarta and New Delhi, where staff are on call 24 hours, ready for dispatch for any relief and rescue efforts, including providing emergency medical assistance as well as repatriation service. Meanwhile, Ping An Global Emergency Assistance has also proactively sought out any Ping An customers who might be in need by contacting local hospitals and respective embassies as well as dispatching medical teams to places where there might be a high concentration of Mainland Chinese tourists, such as Phuket and the Maldives. One of the main benefits of Ping An Global Emergency Assistance has been in helping customers breaking any language barriers by providing Chinese-language services on the 24-hour 95511 hotline in the event customers needing to call for assistance.

According to Ms. Zhang, assistant general manager of Customer Service Department of Ping An Life, customers who are in the affected areas can call the 95511 hotline through two ways. For customers who are in Singapore, they can place an international 800 collect call by dialing 001, followed by 80008695511. For customers who are in Southeast Asia other than Singapore, they need to call China’s country code, followed by 8695511 or 8651295511.

Emergency assistance is an important value-add service in any insurance company. Ping An was the first in the industry in offering emergency assistance services overseas back in 1997, dedicated in offering such services to customers who travel overseas for leisure or business. To date, Ping An, with internationally-renowned emergency assistance partners, has 25 report centers worldwide that network closely with more than 450,000 medical services institutions 24 hours a day, ensuring assistance services of international standard and a true global coverage.

Since working with reputable emergency relief operators and becoming a global emergency assistance provider beginning in 2003, Ping An has provided emergency medical services overseas to more than 40 customers, with services ranging from repatriation, emergency transfer between hospitals, to deposit guarantee for hospital admission.
